Buyer Terms

1. About these terms

These Buyer Terms apply when you use Scout to look for a product or service, on WhatsApp or on the web. They add to the Terms of Use, and words defined there have the same meaning here.

2. Getting started

To search on WhatsApp you accept the Terms of Use and confirm an account with an emailed code or your number. On the web you may be able to chat as a guest. You must be at least 16, and some purchases may require you to be an adult.

3. It is free for you

We do not charge Buyers for asking Scout or comparing sellers. Your network may charge for data. You pay the seller for anything you buy, on terms you agree with them. We do not take or hold your money.

4. How Scout helps

Tell Scout what you want, in words or with a photo, with your budget and place if you like. Scout searches what sellers have listed, shows you matches and can compare them. Scout works only from what sellers have listed, so results may be incomplete. A seller not shown may still have what you want, and the cheapest result shown is not always the cheapest available.

Scout uses automated systems that can misunderstand a message or a photo. Check details with the seller before relying on them.

5. No guarantee about sellers or items

Scout shows you sellers. It does not guarantee the quality of any item, and it does not guarantee a seller's identity, honesty, licence, stock, price, delivery or ownership of what they list. Listings are written by sellers, and we do not inspect them. Price and availability are for the seller to confirm.

6. Do your own checks

Before you pay, you should:

  • See the item in person where you can, and test it.
  • Confirm the seller's identity and contact details.
  • Agree the price, delivery, returns and any warranty clearly, and keep a record.
  • Be careful with deposits, advance fees and requests to pay before you have seen the item.
  • For vehicles, check the logbook and its ownership with the official registry. For land and property, carry out an official search, and use a qualified professional.
  • Be wary of prices that seem too good to be true.

7. What sellers see about you

To put you in touch, Scout passes what you asked for to sellers, including a description of what you want, any budget, place or note, your WhatsApp profile name and a link to your WhatsApp number. It may include a photo you sent, or a short summary of your conversation.

This happens when you tap I'm interested or ask to be connected, and it can also happen when your request matches a seller's listing. Sellers may then contact you on WhatsApp.

Sellers are independent of us. Once a seller has your details, how they use them is their responsibility. The Privacy Notice has more detail.

8. Changing your mind

If you are no longer looking, tell Scout. Scout tells the sellers your request went to that they should disregard it, closes it where no seller has started on it, and hides your details there. A seller who has already replied to you may keep your details. To stop a particular seller from contacting you, tell them directly, and tell us if they do not stop.

9. Your contract is with the seller

Any purchase is a contract between you and the seller. We are not a party to it and are not responsible for payment, delivery, quality, returns, refunds or warranties. Your rights under consumer law apply against the seller. Contact the seller first about any problem.

10. Be genuine

Use Scout only for real requests. Do not send false requests, waste sellers' time, or send anything unlawful, abusive or explicit. Scout limits how many requests reach sellers each day, and we may restrict accounts that misuse it.

11. If something goes wrong

If you think a seller or listing is fraudulent, stop dealing with them, keep your evidence, and report it to the police where a crime may have happened. Tell us at info@lslgroupinc.com with the seller's name and listing, and we will review it. We cannot recover money you paid to a seller.
